I got a new laptop around three months ago, it came with windows 7. Ive got a vaio nw series, vgn-nwf. A few days ago my sound stopped working, I restarted my laptop and my sound was gone. I could move the volume bar though. Ive got a realtek high definition audio soundcard, and it worked perfectly. When i checked, it said it was up to date, and after much googling i decided to reinstall it, except that now, its just set to mute.
When i go into hardware and sound, and click adjust system volume it just says that no audio device is installed. But it is. Ive tried everything, and why is this problem occuring now?
I just want some answers, bc, what a computer without sound? Ive done system restore, and everything else on the comp is working, so whats the problem, no one seems to know. Please help, and dont tell me to set it to default, cause it is.

Seems as if you may have two audio outputs-1 realtek std plug or built-in speakers and one HDMI from the video card if installed. You could check the settings for the audio output location and see if it being sent to the hdmi.
The users guide will show you how to find those settings. Is the laptop connected to a monitor or tv via hdmi? Sunday, February 7, AM. Its connected to the monitor on my computer, i dont even have an hdmi cable. I checked, and it doesnt say anything about being sent to the hdmi output.
I cant check the volume either bc it just tells me that no audio device is installed. The thing is that the device is installed, its enabled, it is on, there just isnt any sound.
Sunday, February 7, PM. I would recommend contacting Sony Tech Support. Your laptop is covered under warranty and they will advise you on what action to take. Ive done that before, except that i restarted it so that it reinstalled automatically, so i did it again and clicked; check for hardware changes, it reinstalled, still not working though, but now , for like 25 min, its been searching in preconfigured driver folders, but no answers.
